Justice and Peace participates on Laudato Si’ week and invite everyone to become part of the net that build a better world

The Laudato si’ week is celebrating the anniversary of the pope Francis’ Encyclical Letter on care for our common home. It will take place between the 16 and 24 of May 2020, in a virtual way. The pope Francis has encouraged the participation through a video message. On this video, he makes a calling to answer the ecological crisis, as the cry of the earth and the cry of the poorer seems not to be sufficient.

The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development of the Vatican also invites to the participation in this week which “open a path to change during one year, while going through the current crisis, praying, reflecting and getting ready together to build a better world in the future”.

The encyclical's teachings are particularly relevant in the context of the coronavirus, which has paralyzed many regions of the world. The encyclical Laudato Si' offers a vision for building a more just and sustainable world.

Justice and Peace echoes this call, participating and inviting all those who wish to accompany this task to become part of the network that is building a better world.

In the last year, Justice and Peace has organized and it has participated in seminars, conferences and working groups on the Laudato si'. It publishes numerous articles, newsletters and publications on this subject and monitors the implementation of the EU Regulation on conflict minerals. During Laudato Si' Week, Justice and Peace will continue to promote the integral ecology and will carry out a campaign on social networks in which everyone can participate with the hashtag #LaudatoSi5 and #JPLaudatoSi5.

Justice and Peace recognizes integral ecology as the new paradigm of our time and as the issue that encompasses the entire reality of life. As well as the industrial revolution changed agrarian society, the ecological revolution would balance our technological society and it should make our global world fairer. The motto of Laudato Si' Week is "everything is connected". In his video message, pope Francis asks to us thinking about the future of our common home: "What kind of world do we want to leave to future generations, to the children who are growing up?"

We invite everyone to participate, from 16 to 24 of May, in the interactive training courses and online workshops. On Sunday 24 of May, the week will end with a worldwide prayer on the afternoon, local time.

Laudato Si' Week is backed by the Vatican's Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development and led by a group of catholic collaborators at a worldwide level. More information at https://laudatosiweek.org/
